Alan Ambrose Maine

January 27, 1937 – July 26, 2018

Alan Ambrose Maine, 81 of Coquille, OR, passed away July 26, 2018 at his home.

Alan was born January 26, 1937 in Custer County, South Dakota to Omar Leroy and Eva Mae Rood Maine. He grew up on the homestead in Parma, Idaho and attended school in Fruitland, Idaho and graduated from Fruitland High School. He married Glenna Louise Yokom on August 31, 1963.

Alan loved farming and he worked on various farms, dairy farms and ranches in Connell, Washington, Elk City, Idaho, Helix, Oregon, Parma, Idaho and Nyssa, Oregon before finally working for Bill Heid at Gum Creek Farms in Jamieson, Oregon for nearly 20 years. After retiring, Alan built a house back on the old homestead in Parma, Idaho where he lived until 2006 when he moved to Pendleton, Oregon. Alan lived in Pendleton for 10 years then moved to Coquille, OR to be lovingly cared for by his daughter.

Alan loved gardening, studying the Bible, and giving Bible studies. He also loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Alan was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He served as deacon, elder, Sabbath School leader, and Pathfinder director at the Vale Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was later an active member of the Payette, Idaho and Pendleton, Oregon Seventh-day Adventist Churches and before his death was a member of the Coquille, Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Alan is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Glenna Maine; son Dale and his wife Lynn Maine of Caldwell, Idaho; daughters; Diane and her husband John Sheese of Coquille, Oregon, Dana and her husband Steve Martin of Pendleton, Oregon; grandchildren; Shanoah Maine and her husband Bjorn Smars, Charlie and his wife Melissa Sheese, Sarah and her husband Kenneth Scott, Holly Sheese, Jessie Sheese, Joseph Martin, Jonathan Martin and Jenna Martin.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Timothy Martin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Pendleton Seventh-day Adventist Church Pathfinder Club’s 2109 Oshkosh Camporee Fund.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. in the Vale Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1554 Hwy. 20-26 E., Vale, Oregon.
