Marilyn Kay Johns Eremenko, age 82, of Beaverton, Oregon, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026.
Marilyn was born October 4, 1943 in Marshfield, Oregon (Coos Bay) where she was raised and educated. She attended Marshfield High School, where she excelled in home economics and thoroughly enjoyed cheering with the pep squad. Later in life, she found great fulfillment working with the OSU Extension Service, teaching valuable classes to the Coos County community.
Marilyn’s life was dedicated to her family and her faith. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she volunteered extensively in the women’s and youth organizations, touching the lives of everyone she served.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Darilyn May (Christopher) and Krista Cook; her grandchildren, Makenzie May, Emma Giauque (Nathan), and Heidi Thompson (Chandler); and her great-grandchildren, William and Evelyn Giauque. She is also survived by her siblings, Arthur Johns (Nadine), Mike Johns (Sherilyn), and Patricia McAffee; her sister-in-law, Susie Johns; and her first husband and the father of her children, Jay Cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Dewain Johns; her husband, Benedict Eremenko; her siblings, Pamela Rood (Clair) and Jerry Johns; and her brother-in-law, Richard McAffee.
A Celebration of Life for Marilyn will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (3355 Virginia Avenue, North Bend, OR 97459). Family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM for an open-house style remembrance—please come as you are and when you can. A short program honoring Marilyn will begin at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at the Allegany Cemetery in Allegany (Coos Bay), Oregon.
