Donald D. Williston

March 24, 1945 - April 20, 2023



Donald D. Williston, 78, of Coos Bay, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023.

Donald was born on March 24, 1945 in Northampton, Massachusetts to Harry S. Williston Jr. and Marie Hilarione Duhamel. Donald graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1963. He went on to attend the

University of Massachusetts.

In March of 1969, Donald enlisted in the Army where he was sent to Vietnam. During his tour in Vietnam, Donald was injured leading to his honorable discharge in March of 1971.

When Donald returned from his service in the Army he continued his education at Boston University where he obtained his law degree. Donald went on to have a successful law career as an attorney at law.

Donald enjoyed playing racquetball, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on all his favorite Boston sports teams, such as the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics. He also acted, directed and was on the Board of Little Theater on the Bay for several years.

Donald is survived by his children, Lindsey Williston of Reedsport, OR, Sarah Williston of Coos Bay, OR, Charles Williston Coos Bay, OR, and Ben Williston of Bend, OR ; his 6 grandchildren Desi, and Theo Kemp, Jackson Williston, Marcella Williston-Collins, and Malakai and Geneva Driggers; his brothers, Harry Williston III of Wendell Depot, MA and Samuel Williston of Easthampton, MA; his sister H. Sydney O’Leary of Cummington, MA; his former spouse Marion Huxley of Bend, OR; and many other family members and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Maven Williston.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson’s Bay Area Mortuary, 405 Elrod Ave., Coos Bay, Oregon
