Kristin Osterbaan

Kristin Osterbaan was born March 24, 1948, in Murray, Utah to Charles Ray Long and Jean Elizabeth Keele Long. She was the third out of ten children. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she held many different church callings, including ward chorister, and Relief Society teacher and, always enjoyed being a member of the choir.

She married her first husband, James Lepin, out of high school and together they had a son, Michael Lepin. She then married Richard Eugene Thornton II and together, they had a son, Erik Thornton and a daughter, Jennifer Thornton. She married Ron Osterbaan January 1, 1985, and he had a son, Leon Osterbaan. They were sealed in the Portland Temple on June 16, 1990.

She lived in Madras, Oregon with her husband Ron for over 30 years prior to moving to Coos Bay to be with her daughter and her daughter’s family. She loved to sew and spent many hours in her sewing room making gifts for other people. Kris made countless burp rags for new mothers, quilts, and crocheted countless dishrags. She departed this life for her next great adventure on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Long, and her mother Jean Long, Sister, Bonny Ruff and brothers, Terry Long and Forrest (Frosty) Long. She is survived by her second mother, Shirlee Long (age 91), husband Ronald Lee Osterbaan, siblings, Bruce Long, Charlotte Littlefield Wolsey and husband Kenneth, David Long, Janette Schlarb and husband Reuel, Jeff Long, Janey Nelson and husband David, her children, Michael Lepin and wife April, Erik Thornton, Jennifer Roberts and her husband Gordon, Leon Osterbaan and wife Michelle, grandchildren, Kathleen Kline and husband Jeff, Erik Lepin and wife Coral, Brittney Cox, Payden Thornton, Perrin Thornton, Ana Thornton and wife Shaundrea, Brennan Thornton, Ron Anderson and wife Melody, Cole Bliss, Osei Roberts, Sharistin Shaffer and husband Lucas, Rose Roberts, Tiyanna Anderson, Dustin Roberts, Chandi Andres and Husband Michael, Kadin Jenson, Giselle Osterbaan and, Hazel Osterbaan as well as 20 great grandchildren.
